Trip in to Hockley

Tuesday myself and my friend decided to have a wander into town and head on down into Hockley to take some photographs for our joint blog ------>> machinharrison.wix.com/viola <<------ Go and check it out!

On the way down we stopped off in Lush to get some research for our current project on Fragrance, taking the stealth route and sneaking around with a camera and asking a bit about the products in general. It was a worth while trip, I found out that the fragrances in their perfume range are made in the traditional artisan way, using natural oils, while the butters are made with shea butter, although the fragrance does not last as long as with the straight out oils and sprays. I also found out that Lush aren't that brilliant at making perfume. Everything else is great! But the perfume needs a step up in a more pleasing scent to the nose selection. Having said that, the perfumes are inspired by art, music and poetry, and while it didn't make me feel in the least bit poetic, I did get the sense of the rooms that are used to create poetry, music and art, the craft going into it and the work. So in that sense, the fragrances work and portray what they are meant to. I just wouldn't want to wear them!

Great play on words here!

Wandering around Hockley, trying to pick a good spot for the photos we came across these great pieces of artistic flare on one of the walls!

The final stop in our trip was White Rose 2, a cute recycled clothes shop supporting the Aegis trust, it's great for the £1 rails, and the odd bargain, like an ASOS coat that was £60 online last month, but is only £10 and basically brand new - bargain buy for my mate stace! Also, when you're a student and you're a bit strapped for cash, why not?
