60's/70's Fashion Influences

The 60's was a era to change most things, fashion being one in particular. Youth subcultures took over fashion and for the first time a defined look for the younger generation appeared. Mary Quant's iconic mini skirt for example, outrageous but perfect for a youth rebellion. The 70's was all about the 'Flower Power' and 'Love and Peace' flares and floral took over and I don't think it ever really went away.

Etro in their Autumn/Winter 2015-16 fashion show channelled the seventies vibe in their own way, with some garments having a feel for rock star Jimi Hendrix from the 60's, none the less, fabulous clothes came down the catwalk again thanks to Etro! They stayed on point to the trends with the feel of soft romance but with a boyish touch, possibly a little to late to the scene but still hit the target. A perfect example of the unintentional Jimi look is shown above. Another example is Marc Jocobs Louis Vuitton 2013 Spring show channelling the 60's vibe with bold geometric prints and iconic Twiggy Hairstyles.

Janis Joplin - Lanvin -Winter 15

In 2015 I also did a fashion show at college channelling music from the 60's through Mod style.
