Renaissance Jewels
A few weeks ago we were set a group project task to pick a colour story out of Pastels, Bright, Monochrome and Complex, and then pick a subcategory from our chosen colour. My group decided upon the colour story of Bright, and then chose Jewel Tones as a subcategory colour story.
Our task was to create a board on Pinterest and pin images of bright, jewel tones onto the board and right a summary of the board and narrative in at least 100 words to then show in our seminar.

The second part of our task was to then create an object or objects to present visually in the form of a final image in a presentation. We were unsure about what to do for this, and ended up selecting renaissance as a time period for a setting as it linked with jewel tone fabrics and accessories and the elemental aspect of gem stones and where they come from.

We started looking at interiors of renaissance buildings and the architecture, from this we had an idea to create a chandelier by draping fabric and threading beads and hanging them off of hangers, or possibly a hanging basket. This was then adapted into the idea of someone wearing it on their head, almost as a headpiece, which then changed our idea into it being a headpiece inspired by chandeliers. After speaking to Tim our lecturer, he gave us a few ideas of how people used to wear large ruffled collars and oversized skirts and petticoats. From this we decided to use the idea of a ruffled collar to go with the headpiece when taking our photos.

We then did some prep for our photo-shoot, writing down ideas into categories. For Ambitious we thought of taking the photos in front of a historical building, somewhere that was Local to us, like, the Waverly building where we have seminars, Nottingham Castle, Churches, and buildings in the Lace Market. We wanted the Location to match the time period so that it added more content and atmosphere.
